Nearly eight years ago, we bought an old roadside lodge that had seen better days.  The paint had faded, the floors were cracked, and most of the toilets rocked from side to side, but there was an honest simplicity to the humble cabins.  We knew it could be great someday, and that it suited us perfectly.

Since then we’ve done an incredible amount of work, met of ton of wonderful people, and learned a lot about innkeeping, the Catskills and the thrills and pitfalls of being your own boss, but are happy to have discovered that this labor of love is as rewarding as it is challenging.

For the people who already know us, thank you for spending your precious vacation time with us.  We know how important it is.  We’ve loved chatting with you at breakfast and are so gratified when we see you return again and again.  For those who have yet to visit, please take a look around and let us know if you have any questions.  We hope this blog will be a forum for us to tell you what we’re up to, to share the things we love to do in the amazing Catskill Mountains and to learn what you love to do here too.

This place is amazing. The owners, are amazing. What I love is that this has become sort of a tradition for my family. My now 3 year old went when he was still in his mama;s belly, and has been back 3 times since. My newest- Annalee will be making her first visit this April of 2014. My parents have come up from Boston twice. My father fell in love right away, and can see why I love the area. Simple, peaceful, serene. Listening to the river roll by late at night or early in the morning. Taking a nice drive through the mountains while sipping on some coffee. Having breakfast in Phoencia. Going for a nice hike, and dinner in Woodstock. And then, back to this wonderful Lodge. Music playing soft. Looking at the stars. Maybe having a bonfire, or walking to the river at night. Waking up in the morning…being greeted with a smile by Brian and Sara as you get your morning coffee, banana or a muffin. Maybe even grab a movie they have to offer if the weather is not so nice. Again- simple. Beautiful. Peaceful. So far from pretentious. This is how life should be
